Inflammation and Multiple Sclerosis
Autoimmune disorders come with a wide range of inflammation and flares. Multiple Sclerosis is no different.
What does inflammation look like in MS?
An exacerbation of MS (also known as a relapse, attack or flare-up) causes new symptoms or the worsening of old symptoms. Since no two people are alike they may experience different exacerbations and their symptoms will vary.
Exacerbations (relapses) are caused by inflammation in the central nervous system. The inflammation damages the myelin which slows or disrupts the transmission of nerve impulses and causes the symptoms of MS.
